Lets Talk About Sex

Several years ago I took a highly scientific posterity predicting/gender defining test. The test consisted of my wedding ring tied to a string while it hung an inch or so above my wrist. The idea of it is that the ring would start to sway. The child's sex would be determined by the direction that the ring moved and the amount of children would depend on how many times the swaying movement occurred. Completely scientific.

I'm not sure what causes this test to be so accurate; maybe my future motherly hormones oozing out my veins or maybe it's something similar to that of a ouija board with unexplained satanic forces at hand. Who knows.

My test went a little something like this:
side to side; back & forth; side to side; side to side; back and forth...
(that's code for: girl, boy, girl, girl, boy...)
Then it proceeded to sway back & forth and side to side about 11 more times.
(that's code for I'm having 17 children and I'm going to have my own TV show)

I am now (about) 16 weeks and I have been trying to hone in my motherly revelation skills... but nothing. I know my highly scientific test predicted girl, but highly scientific tests can lie. I'm not feeling strong about either gender. All I know is that the odds are high that it will either be:

A. a boy
or
B. a girl

And I'm pretty confident about that one.

Now I turn to another source of highly scientific gender determining test, the Chinese baby prediction calendar.

According to this calendar, I am going to have boy. Whether or not the child will be Asian (due to the fact that this is a Chinese calendar) is undetermined.

Other tests have been conducted as well.
We have the mother-in-law test, which predicted a boy.
We have Nate's twins test, where he predicted a girl.

I'm thinking we should put some money down on this one.

And do tell, how accurate is this Chinese calendar for the children you birthed?
And did any of them come out Asian by chance?

i can't remember for the life of me! BUT I do think the ring test was quite accurate for me... hmmm, 17 kids eh? Will you remember us lowly folk with only 4-5 kids when you are rich and in a mental insitution? You can write me post-dated cheques just in case.

sorry.. that comment looked dumb. I now see after my computer uploaded the chinese calendar that I could have looked it up, doh. Sadly I can't remeber the age I was when I conceived my kids *gasp! I can't even remember when I discipline them to get them out of their room.. so no surprise.

ok, so I'm 1 for 3, it was accurate in predicting my boy, but wrong on both girl counts.... maybe it only works for boys??

Seriously? i'm suppose to remember how old I was when i conceived each child and the month they were conceived? I barely can remember their names let alone my age....that many months ago.

{sigh}

I bet you're having a boy....unless it's a girl.

PS- are you missing a word in your title?

The Chinese calendar was 100% accurate with us! That makes me a true believer!
Well either way it will be perfect! We are excited to find out what sex it will be.

Well, I have tried about EVERYTHING I could (even paid $300 for a gender test kit that had a 97% success rate) for a girl and FAILED everytime! So I think its all a bunch of jibberish! But I am going to put my money on a BOY for you this time!

I did the ring thing and it has been right so far too. Crazy. Also, (you should love me for this for it took me much longer than I guessed) I went to this site:
http://www.thebump.com/calculators/ChineseGenderChart.aspx

and did my real age (the Chinese age gave the wrong gender) and the month of conception and the genders were right for mine. So there is your info. Go figure.

I'm a big skeptic when it comes to these tests but the Chinese calendar was right with all five of mine so yeah, I don't know.
I'm sure of one thing, your baby will be pretty.
And I will come hunt you down and shove twinkies down your throat if your still skinny.
I'm just sayin'...

Mindy, you'll be happy to know you can save your twinkies... the butt is big... and the thighs. So hawt!

I have to say girl for you-I remember doing the ring thing too. whitney was correct with the ring test and with the Chinese calender. I remember doing the ring test on Betty, and it stayed perfectly still--go figure. If thats the case, have fun with all those kids. I'm only having 6 according to it :D

This is so cool. 2 out of 3 for me with the Chinese calendar. Although my great great grandfather was Chinese, those genes are long gone from me:-)
