Let's play a game...

Debuting for the first {and hopefully last} time on my blog is (say it with enthusiasm)...
WILL. IT. DIGEST!
If any of you took a psychology class in either high school or college, you might remember learning about Freud's stages of development (exciting I know, trust me it's about to get better). Well the first stage in development is the oral stage. What goes in the hand usually goes straight in the mouth. Well, in Macie's case, what goes in the hand, goes in the mouth, goes in the stomach, and out into the diaper. To quote Forrest Gump but with a twist -changing Macies diapers is like a box of chocolates....you never know what your going to get.

So thanks to Macie & her amazing digestive system, the game WILL.IT.DIGEST! was born. Here's a list of normal, non-edible, everyday items that I've found in her diapers.

Now on with WILL.IT. DIGEST!
Crayons- not digestible
Stickers- partially digestible
Foam- not digestible
Paper- almost digestible
More crayons- still not digestible
Wrappers- digestible
Books- digestible (kind of)
Sand- definitely not digestible
Dirt- not digestible
Small rocks- not digestible
Chalk- almost digestible
Flip-flops- not digestible
Bouncy balls- not digestible
Kitty-litter- not digestible, but very hard to see
Tin foil- definitely not digestible
A handful of craft beads- 100% non-digestible

And last, but definitely not least.
We have not 1, not 2, not even 3, but 4 of these jell type cockroach sling shots! Check out the size of the suckers!

These are, without a doubt, 110% non-digestible in any way or form. I found 4 of these little, actually, not quite so little buggers in her diaper...WHOLE! I about died seeing what had just come out of my little child. Then my thoughts went from amazement to -how the heck did she not choke on these bugs. Obviously they were quite easy to swallow seeing as she ate 4 of them. Oh, my child! I'm surprised she's still alive or doesn't have some rare disease with the things she has eaten. And it just keep escalating. She keeps moving up to bigger and better things to swallow.

So here's a couple of other things she has tried to eat, but failed to do so.

She's tried many times to eat her crib, but her attempts were foiled when I put masking tape around the edges. Odds are she'll find a way to eat the tape too.

Then we have the batteries from my remote. It is probably one of her favorite things to chew on. She's pretty naughty about it too. She will grab the remote when I'm not looking, run out of site and bang the back of the remote so the batteries fall out and then shove them in her mouth...she's a sneaky little poo.

Batteries I'm sure would not be digestible and they probably wouldn't come out as easy as say, 4 toy bugs.
So before you run off and start diagnosing my child, just know that even though I find this quite amusing, I'm actually quite worried and I will be following up with my pediatrician. And I do try to watch her as close as I can, but she's a fast little sucker.

It's kind of funny, I've always said that Macie's my best eater, she'll eat just about anything. Ha, that couldn't be more true.

And by the way, the next stage of Freud's development is the anal stage (not to be gross, this is merely for educational purposes only. I just like to keep my readers informed). I'm hoping that we can just skip over the anal stage, since what goes in must come out. I isn't that like killing two birds with one stone?

Thanks for playing my little game of WILL.IT.DIGEST! I hope you enjoyed it half as much as I did.

ooo ooo can I play too? Not to compare your child with my childhood dog, but I had Rottweiler that would eat anything!! Litterally. One time I was picking up poop, cause that's the neighborly thing to do, and discovered my sock! 100% Not digestible! he also snagged two sticks of butter one day when I was baking, thought for sure he would be sick, but he did have the shiniest coat for a month!!

That is so funny! I can't believe that she could get all those things down her without choking... maybe she is just putting them in her diaper? So crazy amazing I love it.

i know they're children and all, but don't they think to themselves, "wow, this tastes disgusting." how the heck do they eat that crap.

and yes, i would like you to take our pictures, but lee has just informed me that that's the last thing he wants to do right now, so maybe you can get creative and get some cute pics of the kids blue lily style. what do you think? i like kind of funky, tutu type stuff. maybe some superman or batman pics of jax. whatever random stuff you think would look good.

Yikes. She is a good eater! Watch out for that kitty litter. My Mom told me about some diseases you can get from that because Caroline was playing in one one day, and she's been an eater as well (although I don't know if she ate the litter. Hope not 'cause it was used. Yikes) although not as "creative" of an eater as Macie. Good luck with that!

I posted a comment earlier, but it disappeared when I submitted it...I can't believe she eats all that stuff. How on earth does she not choke! That is crazy. James was worried about parker having an intestinal blockage because he ate a piece of cardboard..I guess there are worse things. I found some quarters in Hayden's diaper once, but that was because he had stuck them down his shirt and they ended up there.

How old is Macie? I thought she only a couple months younger than Margo and she hasnt put random things in her mouth for probably at least 6 months or so. I am so paranoid I would freak out if she ate all that stuff. It is pretty funny though.

Are you serious?!? I have never seen such a thing in all my life and I am amazed by her powerful jaw too. check out those teeth marks! I think she is deficient in something! iron, magnesium, I don't know something, she is trying to find something! wow

It might be something they never grow out of. I had a friend whose 9-year-old swallowed a watch battery. They took him to the emergency room and found the battery in an ex-ray. Every time he went to the bathroom they had to dissect what came out so they could make sure the battery came out. If the battery didn't come out it would have to be surgically removed. I guess stomach acid can break down the battery so that battery acid can leak out. (So watch those batteries!)
I had a neighbor whose son would chew on all their toys. She finally bought him "chew toys" that were specifically for chewing as not to ruin all the other toys.
Good luck! On this week of thanksgiving you can be grateful for a child who won't complain about the food placed before them!

P.S. Make sure to stay away from buying Magnetix toys, as they can be deadly if swallowed.

I saw the bugs with my own eyes and they smelled like poo. This myth is CONFIRMED.

Holy cow! Did Macee swallow all 4 at one time? If so, she must be really fast! Amazing. I have been loving all the funny stories on your blog. I started my own blog, but am a retard when it comes to new stuff, and haven't quite figured it out yet!

Did you cut your hair?
