I am tired, so I will make this brief.
Macie & Abrie had a well child appointment today. The doctor asked if I had any questions regarding my children. I said, "yes, I have two. First, Abrie has a wart (I know so un-girlie like) and Macie eats EVERYTHING". The doctor responds, "the wart is fine, it will go away". Me, "but the wart has been there for two years...you really think that it's going to go away?". Doctor, "yes". Ok, whatever. On to the next question (Macie's eating habits). Doctor, "it's completely normal for kids to put things in their mouth, it's just a phase.". Me, "Really, it's completely normal for a child to eat kitty litter and swallow 4, 3 inch toy bugs!?". Doctor, "yes, you want to hear a funny diaper story?" not really, but I nod politely just to act like I care. Then the doctor continues to tell me how her little Timmy pooped out blueberries and her husband almost ate one on accident. First of all, how in the heck does your husband almost eat a piece of poo. Second of all, I don't really care all that much. And third of all, can we get back to me and my problems.
So after I give her a smile and a courtesy laugh we continue onto Macie. She offers a hemoglobin test for my sake to show me that there was nothing to worry about. Then states sarcastically, "we don't usually worry until they're sucking on broken glass and thumbtacks". Me, "then you should probably start worrying. I pulled a thumbtack out of her mouth the other day". So they did the quick test and her iron came back low. I'm actually surprised it was low. With the amount of dirt she's been eating she should be off the charts.
So now I will be going back in to do some more blood work on my child with the eating disorder. I guess it could be worse. I heard on the radio today that they found a lady that had 15 inch in diameter hair ball in her stomach. Apparently, hair is not digestible either.
Oh, and as of today small diamonds, Polly pockets accessories, and heart shaped beads are non-digestible as well.

Hey, I've been meaning to call you and see if you ever had Macie checked with all the mouth stuff. So what did they tell you to do?
They didn't tell me to do anything. They are just waiting to get all the blood work done to see if there is anything to worry about. I'm going to try to get in this week to get it done.
I like your new header.
And there's a big difference between blueberries and kittylitter. (Besides that one is considerably more "digestible" than the other).... Grrr for doctors who don't take moms seriously.
Small diamonds, eh? You could make a fortune off this girl...
yikes.
Have you tried the over-the-counter wart removal? Tyler had several and they told us to use that along with putting duct-tape on it. (Has some special chemical that seems to work miracles on warts). They did eventually go away. Avoid having them frozen off, we did that with Madisyn because it was between her toes and hurt, but I think the medical procedure was much worse and still took several weeks to go away.
I just read this:
Many iron-deficient patients develop pica, an unusual craving for specific foods (ice cubes, lettuce, etc.) often not rich in iron.
In Macie's case it's batteries and toys, etc, etc, etc. I hope they can find something to cure her. That would be really frustrating!
yeah, you're posting again!! however unfortunate for poor macie, your blogging fans are enjoying the posts. Keep posting, just keep posting!!
Yikes! I have an appointment on Friday w/ Joshua. I also had an appointment w/ all 3 of my kids today as well. It sure can make it a long day! BTW, Amy's comment about iron is true. I, personally, am often anemic, or low on iron and it really does make your mouth taste funny sometimes and/or crave weird stuff. For adults there are iron supplements, for children??? I'd say ask your doc, but who knows w/ yours?!
Like your new title picture btw. Good job.
woah. I can't beleive all the things she eats! Hopefully adding the iron in her diet will help.
Also, about the comment your doctor made...how on earth did the husband almost eat one of the poopy blueberries?!
and I love your new title picture!
Ginnie, after the mention about your blog on Sunday I thought I would check it out. Lilly was actually anemic, and they gave her a super nasty liquid iron, somewhat like liquid rusty nails. It made her stomach really upset, so I chose to just feed her a ton of raisin bran with about %80 iron. She loved it and her tummy was much happier too. Oh, btw, your explanation of how big the bug were did them no justice. They are huge!!! good luck.
