Born From The Heart

Let me tell you a story...

With fingers nervously strumming, a young couple sat in the doctor’s office anxiously awaiting the results of their fertility test. It had been years of waiting and trying to start a family of their own. Life was not going at all like they had planned, at least not the way they imagined it would be. In between the dreaming of white picket fences and the happily ever after no one ever mentioned that there would be heart break; not like this.

The doctor walked into the room and greeted the young couple with a solemn look, “Well, I’m afraid it’s not good news.” The doctor began to tell them that their odds of having a child of their own were slim to none. With a 5% chance of ever being able to get pregnant even an optimist would have a hard time keeping hope. It was as if a thousand tiny shards of glass sliced through their hearts and breathing became a task almost too hard to bear.

The next few months that followed were not easy. The decision had been made to adopt; hoping that somewhere out there the child they had been longing for was waiting just for them. It was difficult knowing that the something you wanted more than anything was completely out of your control and in the hands of someone else. So they prayed, and waited, and never lost faith.

* * * * * * * * * * *
A young woman sat in a bathroom with eyes in unbelief. Holding the pregnancy test firmly in her hands she bowed her head and began to cry. How could this be happening? This wasn’t how her life was supposed to be. Her fairy tale didn’t include being a single Mom and juggling school, dating, & work all at the same time. Her heart sank lower into hear chest as she tried to soak in her new reality. She was pregnant.

The months passed quickly and her ever changing belly began to grow. With every kick and every little poke she would place her hand on her stomach and smile. She couldn't believe the amount of love she had for this little spirit that grew inside her. The decision of what to do weighed heavy on her mind. She knew that she would not be able to give this unborn child the life she deserved. She knew what had to be done, which didn’t make her choice any easier. She didn’t choose to give her up; she chose to give her life. It’s not that she didn’t love her, it’s that she loved her enough to make the most selfless decision a person could ever make; she would give her little baby girl up for adoption.

The young woman searched for strength she didn’t have. So she prayed, and waited, and never lost faith.

Now, this isn’t where the story ends. In fact, this is where it all begins…

I don't like cliff hangers. I can guess how it is going to end and I know how I would like it to end... but I don't really KNOW how it will end. Please tell...
