My idea of a good night

Kids in bed early.
Chinese take out for dinner.
Movie rental from redbox.
Snuggling up on the couch with the hubby.
Oh, and of course the FORTUNE COOKIES...

Bloom

And if I spray a little bit on just before Nate comes home I can trick him into thinking I showered. (Just a little trick of the trade I learned from Marta)

• Give Away • Think Happy Thoughts

Everyone else is doing it, so why can't I?

So what's up for grabs?
(Don't get yourself too excited.)

Your very own, made with love, blog header...

I promise it won't look like this, unless you want it to. And hey, I'll even throw in the steamy hot picture of me and Nate if your heart desires it. Not interested in a new blog header? Ummm, then I'll knit you a sweater.

The catch?

Well, it's pretty simple. Ever since I did that little interview over on Miss Marta's blog I've been thinking (dangerous, I know). She asked the question, "What makes you happy?" it was like a breath of fresh air thinking about all the positive things that surround my life. So I want to know, what makes YOU happy? (here's my list from my interview)

Buying a $40 shirt on a $15 sale.
All you can eat breakfast buffet.
Falling asleep next to my hubby with our feet intertwined.
Watching my kids play together.
Freshly shaved legs.
High thread-count sheets.
The smell of fresh baked bread.
Making my hubby smile.
Having a full pantry.
Dark Chocolate & Diet Coke… the two belong together.
High heels.
Getting real mail from a friend, the kind of mail the postman has to deliver.
The sun shining through my window.

Just leave a comment saying what makes you happy and yes, saying "ginnie" is allowed. In fact, you get bonus points for that one. The lucky winner will be drawn Monday, March 30th.

Think HAPPY thoughts!

PS- Ya, I'm kind of kidding about the whole knitting you a sweater thing... I don't knit. I actually don't do anything of the sort, but I do know how to make a pretty sweet boondoggle.

Maybe, Maybe Not

I may or may not have watched Twilight for the first time last night.

I may or may not have had to remind myself that I am a grown adult and not a pre-pubescent 12 year old giddy little school girl.

I may or may not have tried to hide my smile with a pillow to cover-up the fact that I was, in fact, giddy.

My husband may or may not have looked at me like there was something seriously wrong with me.

I may or may not have considered the fact that Nate might be on to something.

I may or may not have had to pause the movie several times to vent about the terrible casting of the characters.

I may or may not have had hot vampire dreams last night.

I may or may not have seriously debated on coming out of the closet with my Twilight confessions.

I may or may not regret this post come morning.

7 was GOOD, but 8 is BETTER

Nate and I just celebrated our 8 year wedding anniversary this month. I've decided that marriage is like a fine wine (not that I would know), it just keeps getting better with time. And in all seriousness I mean every word of that.

In celebration of our 8th year anniversary I took the privilege to write a poem for me from Nate to me. So hypothetically speaking, if Nate were to write me a poem to publicly profess his extreme & ultra hot love he has for me this is, I'm sure, what it would say:

Pull out the tissues 'cause this one's a tear jerker.
(Ahem)

Ginnie, oh Ginnie, I love you so much,
I like it when you make me some grilled cheese for lunch.

Even though I strongly deny it,
when you post pictures of me sleeping secretly I like it.

You make me smile and you make me laugh
If you want, I could chart my love for you on a graph.

Your hips are so awesome. They were definitely made for birthing,
Let's make some more babies to place on this earth(ing).

I like when you sing, it reminds me of Baby Spice,
Not to mention wicked dance moves so sly like Vanilla Ice.

You are the hand to my elbow,
The giggle to my Jello,
The shimmy to my shake,
The icing on my cake.

You are my love, my life, my super-awesome everything,
And in the words of Bette, the wind beneath my wings.

Without you my life complete it would be not,
In other words dear Ginnie, I like you a lot.

Love, Nate
(by Ginnie)

It's a GREEN thing

We had a little visitor come to our house today...

He left pieces of rainbow and green little foot prints wherever he went. At the end of the trail we found a very unconventional treasure...

- GREEN squeeze-it juice (takes me back to the day of elementary school & the smell of PB&J)

- GREEN apples

- GREEN ring POP's

- GREEN gum (a coveted favorite in this house)

- GREEN jello cups (except for Macie. Hers was orange. What am I supposed to do when there's a three pack of Jello and it's 1 orange and 2 green? Buy another one? I don't think so. This leprechaun is on a budget.)

- GREEN hershey kisses (the minty delicious kind)

The kids loved it! Hopefully they'll be able to sleep tonight with visions of little green men running around the house.

Speaking of scary things; check out the look on Macie's face. Something is terribly wrong here and I am not going to take responsibility for it.

Happy St. Patricks Day!

I'm Smiling

because the sun is out,
because the sky is blue,
because those are the cutest toes I've ever seen,
because I bought myself a new pair of sunglasses,
because my toes are painted,
because there are blossoms on the tree,
because the kids are playing outside,
because of the sweet anticipation of spring,
because I really have no reason to frown today,
and
because it's the WEEKEND!

I love Fridays!

Happy F r i d a y to you!

While we're on the subject... kind of

From my post below:
#4- "tooting"- no matter how nasty it is- is always funnier if done during prayer.

First of all, we say "tooting" in my family or sometimes I just say, "nasty". I can't stand the word "fart"... such an ugly word, but then again bursts of fowl smelling fecal air is not really deserving of a pretty name. I guess we could call it "poo dust" like Nate, but then we might vomit- kind of like I want to do right now- because we envision little specs of poo particle's floating around.

So if you're going to "let it rip" I hope you take note from the family guy and practice the fart cover-up approach.

Be courteous. Just cough.

PS- I never watch the family guy. Can’t stand it.
PPS- This might be funnier to watch after midnight when you’ve lost your sense of judgment.

One Year Older & Wiser Too...

We can officially check off another year that I have
graced my presence on this earth.

My birthday was nice & sweet...
just the way it should be.

I've had some time to reflect on the wealth of useless knowledge
I have acquired over the past years
and thought I would share some of those tid-bits of
life lessons I have learned with you.

Just consider it my little way of giving back.

Things I've learned...

  1. Salsa & chips can be a great substitute for any breakfast.

  2. If it's brown and found in my house the odds are likely that it's NOT chocolate.

  3. Hearing the phrase, "Mom, I kind of need to tell you something" is usually not a good thing.

  4. That "tooting"- no matter how nasty it is- is always funnier if done during prayer.

  5. Putting a little bit of toilet paper into the toilet is good.

  6. Putting the whole roll of toilet paper into the toilet is better.

  7. Watching your mother fish out that whole roll of toilet paper using a Ziploc baggy as make-shift rubber glove is best (and can also be very entertaining).

  8. "Mom & Dad, can my family live in your basement for a few months?" is code for "Mom & Dad we are never going to leave your basement... ever."

  9. They make "Kitty" litter for cats, why don't they make "Kiddie" litter for kids since my kids (Macie) seems to prefer the floor anyway. (Not a life lesson. Just a thought)

  10. Red Bull does not give you wings, but it can cause bouts of insanity.

  11. Dental Floss and small steel balls are not digestible.

  12. Macie's digestive system continues to amaze me.

  13. No matter how many times you threaten your child and try to lower their self esteem they continue to cut their own hair... and shave off half of their eyebrow.

  14. Gum is not an effective way of fixing a broken piano key.

  15. Everyone has their issues- some more than others. Unfortunately, I think I might find myself in the "some" category rather than the "others".

  16. There is a fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness" (a.k.a blogging).

  17. If you want to feel good about your mothering skills just compare yourself to the ever downward spiral called Britney Spears.

  18. In this ever changing world there are 3 things you can always depend on; 1. A bathroom that will always need scrubbing; 2. Dishes that will always need doing; 3. And the "sisters" that will always keep sagging (unless you decide to go and get some help from DR. 90210, which isn't too bad of an idea).

  19. The difference between a good day and bad day is a couple liters of Diet coke and a cocktail of anti depressants your attitude.

  20. Never say never unless it's used in a phrase like, "I will never eat 5 cheesy double meat burrito's from Taco Bell and then decide to go skydiving right after."

  21. Surround yourself with good people and if you're lucky enough some of that good will rub off on you.

  22. The Beatles were on to something when they said, "All you need is LOVE"

  23. Laughing is usually the better alternative to crying.

  24. Life is full of little moments; it's up to you decide whether they will be good or bad.

  25. One year older doesn't necessarily mean wiser too.

25 Things... or not

  1. I didn't go to my senior prom.
  2. I still won't admit I was a nerd in high school.
  3. I'm thinking I should throw myself a pseudo senior prom. You're all invited.
  4. I haven't seen the Twilight movie yet. (gasp)
  5. The Edward in the movie makes me want to vomit just a little.
  6. I can chew my gum all day long... and then some. Thank you Extra!
  7. I like to eat, eat, eat apples and banana's.
  8. I would rather watch a scary movie than a love story.
  9. I was held at gun point by cops. "Bad girl, bad girl, watchya' gonna do..."
  10. I can read people's minds.
  11. You're thinking you're concerned about my eternal salvation. Lets just say the cop thing wasn't my fault.
  12. I like to burp and then blame it on my kids.
  13. My kids think I'm funny...
  14. Nate on the other hand, not so much.
  15. I have a tendency to get lyrics wrong e.g Aerosmith: Do me like a lady..... dude looks like a lady. Prince: living connect..... little red corvette. Edwin McCain: I'll be you dying soldier..... I'll be your crying shoulder. Kenny Loggins: I went to the danger zone..... Highway to the danger zone. I rest my case.
  16. If you're not sure which lyrics are right and which ones are wrong you are equally as bad as I am.
  17. I never honk at people. It makes me feel mean.
  18. The first week I lived in Philly I asked for some fry sauce to go with my meal. My equally Philly Virgin friend, Amy, burst out in loud laughter and the little cashier looked at me with this dumb founded look, "You wan' sum fry wha'?!". For crying out loud, you put Cheez Whiz on cheese steaks, but you've never heard of the ketchup/mayo goodness called fry sauce? Seriously people.
  19. Friends should inform friends when and when not to ask for fry sauce.
  20. I no longer ask for fry sauce when I'm out of the state of Utah.
  21. I would go to up to number 25, but I don't want to overwhelm you with nothingness.
