You look a little constipated...

So we took Kaleb to the doctor yesterday. What was her diagnosis? Constipation. Yep,...nothing a good BM can't fix. If only all of our problems could be fixed that easy (with a good BM). Some of you would be problem free at the same time every day, while others of who aren't so regular wouldn't be quite as fortunate.

A while back Kaleb had this same problem, the doctor had us go get an abdominal X-ray. It showed that Kaleb was really backed up, so this isn't an uncommon problem for him. Apparently, living on chicken nuggets, grilled cheese sandwiches, and pancakes won't keep you regular. The boy needs some roughage. But the only way he would eat a green vegetable would be dipped in chocolate, sprinkled with sugar, and deep fried and even then I doubt he would eat it.

So what ends up happening is Kaleb gets constipated which starts a chain reaction. It backs up his whole system causing his acid reflux to act up and be more severe. (poor kid)

Like I said before... it's nothing a good BM (and a laxative) can't fix.

*And any idea's out there to get the boy to eat his veggies?

We have found highly concentrated apple juice to work wonders. I had some of those stool softeners you get at the hospital after birth and Ryan got a hold of it and ate one one day. Of course it was the day before we left for Bear Lake (last year). Let's just say they work REALLY well. Good thing we brought plenty of diapers!

too funny! I think I have a bottle of stool softeners laying around the house. I'll have to give those a try if all else fails :)

The only way I get Brooke to eat her veggies is in soup. Of course she doesn't have all her teeth yet so her chewing ability is limited. Good luck though!

Poor kid..I'm kinda embarrassed to admit this, but I had that same problem as a kid in elementary school. My Mom gave me papaya "vitamins" every day. My teacher had a bag of them and if I complained about my stomach hurting they would give them to me. They are really good and taste like candy. Just little orange chewable papaya supplements. Papayas are a digestive enzyme. As for the veggies..I really don't know, but V8 makes a drink called V Fusion, which has a full serving of fruits and veggies in 8 oz. It's really good. You could always try that, to at least get some into his system. Hope he gets some relief! By the way, funny pictures especially the first one.

constipated as a child huh,...that explains a lot. :)

that's a good idea about those vitamins. I'll have to look into that.

I have the strangest child ever. She would choose to eat corn or peas over anything. We tried to give her french fries once and she cried for her peas. We have to give them to her at the end of the meal because she wont eat anything else if she sees them. We give it to her and call it her dessert. Oh, and she hates chicken.

Jackson won't eat any veggies or fruits. But he loves the V Fusion someone mentioned. I know that Juicy Juice is coming out with a juice that has 2 servings of fruits and veggies in one serving. That's the only way we can get him to eat, but dipping it in chocolate is an idea . . .

I have the same problem. I have done things like adding pureed baby veggies to ezras pizza and pasta sauce, adding pureed zuchinnis or other things to pancakes and breads.... hmmm what else. We do the juice too, costco also has a drink that is green ( the odwalla juice) and we make smoothies with it or add it to grape juice. Ezra doesn't mind veggies that are tiny in rice. You could even make mashed potatoes with sweet potatoes or other veggies mixed in. Ezra is being weird lately and won't even eat much fruit. all he wants is wheat bread and cheese!

I'm glad to hear it wasn't serious. Hopefully your getting a little sleep now huh. Well i just sent Blake to pre-school I had 2 1/2 blissful hours with out him. Oh man I love the kid but he drives me crazy. So what can you do spend 67 dollars a month to get rid of them. He is in countless other things to. So I probably spend 150 a month on the (Keep Blake busy so that he doesn't drive mommy crazy fund) bye Jen

100% homeground Whole Wheat homemade bread does the trick in our family. He'll have the runs for days. If that fails, we gave Nathan an enema once. (Not fun.)Wishing you lots of luck!

Lots of great ideas guys...thanks. I'm going to start with the V8 drink first...sounds like thats the easiest.
