The phone call came unexpected in the middle of the day. The voice on the other end of the receiver delivered the news that the young couple had been hoping and praying for. There was a little baby girl ready to be delivered any day that needed a Mom & Dad.

A few days had passed and the young couple found themselves in a small hospital room on the 3rd floor of the maternity ward. The room held a nervous silence. The rhythmic ticking of the clock was the only sound that filled the air as they patiently waited for what felt like an eternity.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

Down the hall in a delivery room on the left, a young beautiful, and now, new Mother gently held her precious infant in her arms, soaking up every passing second that flew by; memorizing each flawless wrinkle and dimple on her new little babe’s face. She lightly stroked the soft cheek of her baby. Then with every ounce of love she had in her, she kissed that little baby girl gently on the forehead and whispered softly, “I love you more than you will ever know”.

She was perfect.
She was heaven.
She was love.

That new young mother hugged her small infant one last time and said goodbye. As she watched the nurse walk out with the child that she had just held and loved, she silently prayed,

Dear God,
Be with my child.
Help her be gentle.
Help her be loving.
Help her be kind.
Help her be thoughtful.
But most importantly God, let her know that she is loved.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

The clocks’ ticking was interrupted by the echoes of footsteps walking down the hall. The young couple looked at each other with anxious grins as they held tightly on to one another’s hands. The door slowly opened revealing a sight that brought them to tears. Laying peacefully in the nurses arms was the most beautiful baby girl they had ever seen. Instinctively the wife’s arms, that had ached for so long to hold a child of her own, reached out to hold this new little piece of perfection. She held her new child tightly to her chest, smelling the top of her strawberry blond filled head trying to savor the scent of newness. She kissed her new infant sweetly and whispered, “I love you more than you will ever know.”

She was perfect.
She was heaven.
She was love.

Two separate stories divinely intertwined.
A story of a couple who could not give themselves what they wanted most.
And a story of a young woman who gave willingly and selflessly a gift that held no price.
This is a story about my sister Jody and her journey through adoption.
This is a story about my beautiful niece Berkley who grew up knowing she was born from her Mommy’s heart.

This could have easily been a story about my Mom’s or even my Grandma’s experience with adoption. In fact, this could be any person whose life has been blessed by the miracle of adoption.

The best case scenario is a story where there’s always a happy ending. Unfortunately, life’s not always like that. Sometimes we get the happy ending and sometimes we need to write our own happy ending. Sometimes we leave it up to fate and sometimes fate needs a little push… as in a little public-blog lovin’-shout-out push.

I have a close friend named Amy who has some pretty amazing stories herself. One of which is her journey of adoption. 2 and ½ years ago her and her husbands lives were changed forever when a young woman chose them to adopt her precious baby boy, Connor. Not a day goes by that they haven’t thanked Heavenly Father for him and the sacrifice made by his birth parents.

Well, Amy and her husband, Lonny, are looking to adopt again. It has been a long up & down roller coaster ride of emotions, but they are hopeful that there is a little baby out there, waiting just for them.

Like I said, sometimes we need to write our own happy endings and sometimes we need to give fate a little push. So consider this my little push to fate…

If you know anyone who is considering placing their child for adoption, please send them on over to Amy and Lonny’s parent profile. Oh, and if you’re super awesome you could put up a little linkage love.

> Amy & Lonny's Parent Profile <

*Just as a side note: I don’t see anywhere on their profile that it says super wicked, Kick “A” Mom and Dad. I think if I had some control I would find a way to edit that in somewhere.

Born From The Heart

Let me tell you a story...

With fingers nervously strumming, a young couple sat in the doctor’s office anxiously awaiting the results of their fertility test. It had been years of waiting and trying to start a family of their own. Life was not going at all like they had planned, at least not the way they imagined it would be. In between the dreaming of white picket fences and the happily ever after no one ever mentioned that there would be heart break; not like this.

The doctor walked into the room and greeted the young couple with a solemn look, “Well, I’m afraid it’s not good news.” The doctor began to tell them that their odds of having a child of their own were slim to none. With a 5% chance of ever being able to get pregnant even an optimist would have a hard time keeping hope. It was as if a thousand tiny shards of glass sliced through their hearts and breathing became a task almost too hard to bear.

The next few months that followed were not easy. The decision had been made to adopt; hoping that somewhere out there the child they had been longing for was waiting just for them. It was difficult knowing that the something you wanted more than anything was completely out of your control and in the hands of someone else. So they prayed, and waited, and never lost faith.

* * * * * * * * * * *
A young woman sat in a bathroom with eyes in unbelief. Holding the pregnancy test firmly in her hands she bowed her head and began to cry. How could this be happening? This wasn’t how her life was supposed to be. Her fairy tale didn’t include being a single Mom and juggling school, dating, & work all at the same time. Her heart sank lower into hear chest as she tried to soak in her new reality. She was pregnant.

The months passed quickly and her ever changing belly began to grow. With every kick and every little poke she would place her hand on her stomach and smile. She couldn't believe the amount of love she had for this little spirit that grew inside her. The decision of what to do weighed heavy on her mind. She knew that she would not be able to give this unborn child the life she deserved. She knew what had to be done, which didn’t make her choice any easier. She didn’t choose to give her up; she chose to give her life. It’s not that she didn’t love her, it’s that she loved her enough to make the most selfless decision a person could ever make; she would give her little baby girl up for adoption.

The young woman searched for strength she didn’t have. So she prayed, and waited, and never lost faith.

Now, this isn’t where the story ends. In fact, this is where it all begins…

Oh, No You Di'in't

Remember my little trip to the DMV to renew my drivers license?
Remember how I confessed that I lied on my weight?

Well, I got my new drivers license in the mail today and guess what?

THEY CHANGED THE WEIGHT ON MY DRIVERS LICENSE!

I kid you not. This is no laughing matter.

I am 99.9999...9 % sure I put a different weight on my application. I know because I consciously made the decision to put down the skinny me on paper. Because, you know, I wanted to account for any weight loss that could be attained in the next 4 years. So technically, I really wasn't lying at all... just planning for the future.

The weight change wasn't a huge difference. Only 5 pounds heavier. I guess it could have been worse, like the one time I was at the gym and a lady two treadmills down from me yells,

"Ginnie, WOW have you lost weight?
What did you lose, like 40 lbs?".
Not wanting to be rude I respond,
"Oh, ya... ummm something like that".
Then she turns to the stranger next to her and loudly announces,
"See that girl over there?"
(pointing directly at me)
"She lost 40 lbs. Can you believe that?"

That, to date, was the easiest 40 lbs I have ever lost.
I don't know how I lost it.
Didn't even know I had 40 lbs to lose.
But some how, by some miracle, I managed to do it.

So I guess that qualifies me to give out some pretty awesome weight loss advice.
Any takers?

Drop It Like It's Hot

Some parents spend quality time with their kids reading books and playing games.
And other parents spend time with their kids helping them perfect their dance moves.

  • Yes, Macie likes to go topless.
  • Not quite sure where Kaleb learned that killer mid-air side kick/dance move.
  • I don't take responsiblity for Abrie's awesome hip action.

Finished Product

Remember my little give away?
You know, the one were I make you your very own blog header.
It was soooo exciting. I don't know how you could forget it.

Well, Amy won and look what she ended up with...

So cute. Right?

I promised her I wouldn't cry [much] if she didn't want to use it.
And I promised her my feelings wouldn't be hurt [only a little bit] if it made her want to vomit.

She said she'd love to use it [only if I paid her].
And then she bowed down to my greatness [only in my dreams].

So, here's the finish product inserted into her cute little blog.

I think I want to make myself a new header.

3 Years Old

She was my best baby
and has turned out to be my naughtiest child
which is hard to do.
I mean, REALLY hard to do
because Kaleb was holding strong on to 1st place,
but I'm pretty sure Macie takes the cake.
I still love her despite her little naughty, mischievous ways.

I would say that I'm thankful to be out of the terrible two's,
but I'm not quite sure if three is going to be any different.

The birthday celebration's were spent just the way a birthday should be, with...

* Mcdonalds *

* cupcakes *

* cousins *
* & the park *

Happy Birthday Macie girl!

My drivers license expired a month ago

I felt guilty knowing I was driving illegally.
Not guilty enough to get my license renewed.
Called to see if there was a grace period of how long your license can be expired.
There's not one.
They said I shouldn't be driving on an expired license.
I said I haven't been driving.
I lied.
They probably didn't believe me anyway.
Which cancels out my lie.

Finally got my act together.
Went to renew my license.
Thought of another lie I could tell just in case they got mad at me for driving there illegally.
They didn't ask.
So I didn't need to lie again.
Which is a good thing because I'm one lie away from going to hell.
And I don't think my husband can live in heaven without me.
Walked to the front desk.
Smiled at the worker guy.
He didn't smile back.
Can't anyone who works for a State facility be pleasant.
I don't think it's part of their job description.

Filled out some paper work.
Lied on my weight.
That lie doesn't count against me because everyone lies on their weight.
Had to retake the test.
It was open book.
Got 23 out of 25 correct.
I hate tests.
Makes me feel like I'm back in high school.

Took my picture.
The not so pleasant worker lady showed me my picture on the screen.
She asked if I wanted to keep it or retake it.
Looked at the picture of myself.
Thought "I should wear a little bit more make up"
Thought "Wow, check out the size of my adams apple"
Thought "I could really go for a tan"
Thought "I've had better hair days"
Thought "I'm so glad I don't have braces yet"
Wanted to retake it.
But didn't want to bother the already bothered lady.
Told her to just keep the picture.
Walked out the door with a legal drivers license
and a clear conscience.

Now I can speed guilt free.

Simply Genius

Who would have thunk?
Edible Easter grass.
How cool is that?!

One of my least favorite things about the Easter baskets...
the super messy, get-every-where-in-the-house, waste-of-money

EASTER GRASS

But edible Easter grass on the other hand? I approve.
My kids love this stringy sugary wafer goodness.

Thank you Uncle Adam for opening up a whole new world of Easter basket stuffing.

Move Over Ugly Betty...

...There's going to be a new ugly in town.

Mark it on your calendars

April 22 @ 11:00 am

Just choose from the list of things you can say to try and comfort me:

  1. We can still go out in public together as long as you walk a good 20 ft behind me.

  2. Sure we could still be friends. Just make sure not to smile when we talk to people I know.

  3. I won't make fun of you... at least to your face.

  4. If you never talk no one will ever know.

  5. Look at it this way, at least you're already married. Nate's love for you is unconditional... right?

  6. I'll still want to hang out with you, especially when I want to feel better about myself.

  7. It's OK Ginnie, lots of people have braces... except most of them haven't hit puberty yet.

  8. I'll make sure to tell you, "It doesn't matter what's on the outside. It's what's on the inside that counts" just to make you feel better.

  9. If you have food caught in your braces I will be the first to tell you. That's what friends are for.

  10. Ginnie, it's all about the accessories. Braces will add a little bling to your grill and help you achieve uber hotness.
Can you tell that I'm beyond thrilled?

Pick Me. Choose Me. LOVE Me.

I'm sure I've left you on pins & needles ALL day long.
Oh, the suspense!

Congrats Miss Amy! Email me at ginniejphotography{a}gmail.com and we can talk about the details... because as we all know, it's all about the details. ;)

Thanks so much to everyone for playing along. I loved, loved, loved reading your lists of happy things. I thought it was funny that chocolate covered cinnamon bears were mentioned of few times. Who would have thought? I guess I've got to get me some of those bite-sized cinnamon, chocolaty goodness.

And for those of you who didn't win just remember there are no losers here... only people who didn't win. Here's a little consulation prize just for playing...

( You can't fake sexy like this)

See. Everyone walks away a winner here. Especially Nate. And if you think that's hot you have got to check THIS out. It may have you screaming, "More baby. MORE!"

PS- Next time I just might have to give away a photography session... watchya think? Yes. No. Maybe so?
